  • Sternberg, Child Development in the 21st Century, 1/e: Copyedited, proofread, and did diversity, equity, and inclusion review on first edition child development etext (to be published by Oxford University Press); collaborated with author on final changes.
  • Brooker/Widmaier/Grahm/Stiling, Biology, 1/e: Analyzed and organized order of content for first edition of this majors biology text (published by McGraw-Hill), and hired and managed team of freelance development editors. Developed all chapters of the Genetics, Evolution, and Plant units for logical organization, clarity of language, and tight art/text coordination. Collaborated extensively with author, helping to establish many of the text’s pedagogical features.
  • Campbell/Reece/Urry/Cain/Minorsky/Jackson, Biology, 7/e and 8/e: Developed chapters of Cell and Genetics units in best-selling majors biology text (published by Pearson). Collaborated with author team to respond to market feedback, including upgrading visual presentation of concepts.

Production Editor 2, Annual Reviews, 2019–2022

  • Annual Review of Cell and Developmental Biology and Annual Review of Physical Chemistry: Responsible for taking annual volumes of scholarly publications through all stages of production. Copyedited 20–25 articles per volume, including working in Overleaf on LaTeX articles; proofread articles on a wide range of scientific subjects. Collaborated with Illustration Editors. Communicated effectively with Editorial Committee of scientists as well as ran annual planning meetings. Maintained database of authors and articles as well as schedules for all articles and volumes.

Senior Analyst, Content Development—Science, Pearson Higher Education, 2009–2019

  • Neff A Changing Planet, 1/e: Developed many chapters of etext. Edited main text and interactive art for each screen for organization, clarity, and flow. Coordinated linked glossary entries, and edited text for videos and animations.
  • Amerman Human Anatomy & Physiology, 1/e: Developed most chapters of first edition. Helped to form features and clarify market story for why the text was different and more effective (“Built for today’s students, one concept at a time”). Developed text for organizational clarity, consistency, and art/text coordination. Collaborated with author, art development editor, designer, and acquisitions editor, responding to market feedback. This first edition in an extremely competitive market sold 20,000 copies in its first year.
  • Martini/Nath Fundamentals of A&P, 12/e: Did organizational revision of entire text, second in market share. Before author revision, analyzed structure of presentation, comparing with competing texts. Then reorganized written presentation, clarifying relationships between concepts, ensuring that concepts were introduced before they were used, improving art/text coordination, and reducing redundancy. Author Judi Nath accepted ~90% of my changes.
  • Knight/Jones/Field College Physics, 4/e: Helped authors incorporate biological applications into this text. Also provided pre-revision editorial suggestions to authors as a student surrogate, and edited all text and features. Helped to identify and craft new Key Concept art feature.

Medical Editor, American Academy of Ophthalmology, 1998–2000

  • Focal Points: Did both substantive editing and copyediting on monthly printed journal for ophthalmologists, as well as multimedia programs. Performed project management for multimedia projects. Proofread material in production stages.
